Namibia’s President Nangolo Mbumba said some citizens had expressed concern about corruption in the budding energy sector.
Addressing a cabinet meeting in Windhoek on Tuesday, Mbumba said Namibia will continue to strengthen its policy measures to fight corruption.
“Let me assure all Namibians that in line with our government’s apparent resolve to promote accountability and transparency, we will continue to strengthen the policy measures aimed at fighting corruption,” Mbumba said.
He called upon all the law enforcement agencies, Namibian Police, the Judiciary, the Financial Intelligence Centre, the Anti-Corruption Commission, the Parliament, the media and all the citizens to continue to play their respective roles in keeping Namibia transplant and corruption-free.
“Maintaining a conducive environment where accountability and transparency thrive to prevent corruption is a patriotic obligation for all Namibian citizens,” he said.
According to Mbumba, green hydrogen is set to play a major role in transforming Namibia’s economy.
