Noronex Limited (ASX: NRX) has appointed veteran geologist and mining executive Tony Chisnall as its new Chief Geologist, effective immediately, to spearhead its copper exploration drive in the Kalahari Copper Belt.

Chisnall brings more than 25 years of global experience in exploration, resource development, and mine geology across gold, copper, nickel, base metals, and critical minerals.

His track record includes expanding the Bawdwin resource in Myanmar to 100Mt within three years, prolonging the life of the Mae Sot Zinc Mine by over 15 years, and leading geology teams at the Avebury Nickel Mine restart in Tasmania.

He has also worked extensively in southern Africa, with early career fieldwork in Zimbabwe and Botswana.

He holds an MSc in Ore Deposit Geology from the University of Western Australia and is a longstanding Member of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (AusIMM).

Noronex Managing Director and CEO, Victor Rajasooriar, said Chisnall’s discovery record and leadership experience would be instrumental in the company’s next growth phase.

“We are delighted to welcome Tony as Chief Geologist. His proven discovery record, breadth of international experience, and ability to grow strong local geology teams will be invaluable as we advance our copper exploration strategy in the Kalahari Copper Belt,” Rajasooriar said.

The appointment also marks a transition for outgoing Chief Geologist Bruce Hooper, who will assume the role of Strategic Technical Consultant.

Hooper will focus on business development opportunities while continuing to guide Noronex’s copper strategy, including its work with joint venture partner South32.

“Bruce has been instrumental in establishing our Kalahari Belt sedimentary copper strategy, securing a commanding land position, attracting a Tier One JV partner, and overseeing the technical execution of our exploration programs,” Rajasooriar added.

“In his new role, he will continue to provide strategic input as we expand our copper footprint in Namibia and Botswana.”

Noronex has 565,528,070 shares on issue and remains focused on unlocking the potential of the Kalahari Copper Belt, one of Africa’s emerging copper provinces.
