Deep-South Resources is rebranding into Koryx Copper Inc. effective 10 November 2023.
The company developing the Haib Copper Mine will not change share capital, and shareholders are not required to exchange their share certificates.
Deep-South CEO Pierre Leveille said the name Deep-South represents the far south region of Namibia but also the area called Deep South in the USA, which symbolises segregation.
“Our company values are opposite to this symbolism. We have decided to change the name to represent our core values better.
“The name Koryx is an amalgamation of the word “Karas”, which represents the province in which we operate in Namibia and the name “Oryx”, which is an antelope of Namibia. The Oryx is the animal national emblem of Namibia and is represented on the national armouries.
“The Oryx symbolises courage, elegance, pride and strength. This better represents our core values, including working with and for our people of the Karas region in the south of Namibia and developing a project for which Karas and Namibian people will be proud for many years to come,” Leveille said.
