Asarian Energy has secured a three-year renewal of the Environmental Clearance Certificate (ECC) for its Norasa uranium project in Namibia’s Erongo region, allowing the company to continue advancing its development plans until August 2029.

The company announced on Monday, 26 October, that Namibia’s Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism had renewed the environmental clearance covering the Valencia and Namibplaas uranium deposits, which together form the Norasa project.

The renewed certificate is valid until 11 August 2029 and represents an important regulatory requirement as Asarian works towards developing the uranium project.

Norasa is wholly owned by Asarian through its subsidiary, Valencia Uranium (Pty) Ltd, and comprises the Valencia mining licence (ML149) and the Namibplaas exploration licence (EPL3638).

According to the company, the renewal process involved an examination of its environmental management practices, including waste management, emissions controls, biodiversity protection and community engagement.

The review assessed the company’s environmental arrangements against the requirements applicable to the project, with the renewed clearance allowing Asarian to continue progressing its development plans while complying with environmental obligations.

The approval comes as Asarian pursues a strategy aimed at advancing Norasa towards uranium production under a new leadership and management structure.

The company, led by president and chief executive officer John Borshoff, has identified Norasa as the centre of its ambition to become a significant uranium producer.

Alongside developing its Namibian asset, Asarian intends to expand its project portfolio through acquisitions, strategic alliances and joint ventures in other jurisdictions.

The company said its broader strategy involves optimising existing assets, expanding its portfolio and assembling a management team capable of advancing projects towards production.

The renewed environmental certificate provides regulatory continuity for the Valencia and Namibplaas tenements, although the announcement does not specify a construction timetable, project financing arrangements or a target date for the commencement of uranium production.

It also does not indicate whether the renewal changes the project’s previously established development requirements.

The latest approval therefore represents progress in maintaining Norasa’s environmental compliance and regulatory standing rather than a decision to begin construction.

Asarian is listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange, Frankfurt Stock Exchange and Namibian Stock Exchange.

The announcement was authorised by Borshoff on behalf of the company’s board.
