B2Gold Namibia has expanded its digital education programme after two schools supported through its partnership with Eduvision finished among Namibia’s top 10 performers in the 2025 national examinations, while a third school has been added to the initiative this year.

Epukiro Post 3 Secondary School finished fourth nationally and Kandjimi Murangi Secondary School eighth in the 2025 examinations, prompting B2Gold to fund a second set of digital learning equipment for both schools in May 2026.

The mining company also extended its support to Coblenz Combined School in the Otjozondjupa Region, which officially opened its new digital classroom on 28 July.

The classroom is equipped with a Clevertouch interactive board, internet connectivity and access to a library of recorded lessons, while B2Gold also provided 40 desks and chairs for learners.

B2Gold has partnered with Eduvision since 2018, using digital technology to extend teaching resources to schools, particularly those in remote areas where access to specialist teachers and learning materials can be limited.

The Eduvision system allows teachers to deliver lessons through interactive SMARTboards to several classrooms simultaneously using a dedicated satellite connection.

B2Gold said its continued investment in the programme aimed to narrow educational disparities by giving learners in remote schools access to teaching and educational resources that would otherwise be difficult to obtain.

The 2025 examination performance of Epukiro Post 3 and Kandjimi Murangi has now provided the company with measurable academic results from two of the schools receiving its support.

In addition to supplying the second set of digital equipment to the two schools, the company trained teachers to use the systems effectively. B2Gold said the additional interactive boards have since been incorporated extensively into teaching and learning at both schools.

The company, however, did not attribute the schools’ examination results solely to the technology, with the performance also reflecting the work of learners and teachers.

Plans to bring Coblenz into the programme were highlighted in March when representatives of B2Gold and Eduvision visited Ombili Primary School in Otjiwarongo as part of a delegation that included Deputy Minister of Education, Innovation, Sports, Arts and Culture Dino Ballotti.

Coblenz formally joined the Eduvision project in May before its digital classroom was inaugurated two months later.

The addition means learners at the school can access recorded lessons and digitally delivered teaching material through the interactive classroom.

B2Gold was Eduvision’s first corporate partner, and the relationship began in 2018 and has continued for eight years.

The partnership has expanded beyond the initial provision of digital technology to include classroom infrastructure, teacher training and additional equipment for schools already participating in the programme.

B2Gold said the objective is to ensure that geographical location does not prevent learners from accessing quality educational material.

The latest expansion comes as mining companies face increasing expectations to demonstrate how social investment in communities surrounding their operations translates into measurable outcomes beyond the life of individual mining projects.

In B2Gold’s case, the national examination performance of Epukiro Post 3 and Kandjimi Murangi provides one indicator of progress, although the company’s latest update does not disclose how much it has invested in Eduvision since 2018, the total number of learners currently benefiting from its funding or how academic performance at supported schools compares with their results before joining the programme.
