Kendrick Resources has reported a 59.78-metre intersection grading 3.39% light rare earth oxides at its Teufelskuppe project in Namibia as laboratory results continue to strengthen the company’s understanding of the emerging rare-earth system.

The intersection was recorded in drill hole TKDD003, while TKDD002 returned 38.2 metres at 3.14% LREO.

The certified laboratory results provide further evidence of broad rare-earth mineralisation at Teufelskuppe as Kendrick works towards its stated exploration objective of defining at least 40 million tonnes grading 3% LREO.

Several shorter intersections were also returned from the drilling, adding to the company’s dataset as it assesses the continuity and geometry of mineralisation.

Kendrick is particularly encouraged by the relationship between its portable XRF readings and subsequent laboratory assays.

The company compared results from 100 samples and reported a +0.82 correlation between the pXRF readings and certified laboratory results.

The correlation matters because portable XRF technology lets explorers get rapid indications of mineralisation in the field before receiving laboratory assays. Strong correlation with certified results could therefore help Kendrick refine targets and make exploration decisions more quickly as work at Teufelskuppe progresses.

The latest results follow ongoing drilling and metallurgical work at the Namibian project as Kendrick seeks to establish whether Teufelskuppe has the scale and grades required to support a significant rare-earth resource.

The company’s exploration target of at least 40Mt at 3% LREO remains an objective rather than a mineral resource and will require further drilling and geological work before a formal resource can be established.

The results nevertheless provide another important piece of evidence as Kendrick attempts to demonstrate the scale of the Teufelskuppe mineralised system.
