Shell is preparing to return to Namibia’s offshore fields as the Deepsea Mira drilling rig has been awarded a new one-plus-one well contract, marking the supermajor’s renewed commitment to exploration in the Orange Basin. The contract, confirmed by Northern Ocean Ltd. (NOL), will see the rig begin operations in April 2026, supporting Shell’s continued appraisal and exploration efforts following several high-profile discoveries in recent years.
