Kombat Mine has launched an extensive recruitment campaign as it prepares for a complete operational restart by mid-2026, advertising a broad range of technical, geological and management positions required to rebuild the workforce for one of Namibia’s oldest copper districts.
The mine’s owners are seeking to fill critical posts across operations, geology, finance, engineering and supply chain, signalling that restart planning has now moved from design into implementation.
The advertised roles — many offered as fixed-term contracts tied directly to the restart — indicate a multi-disciplinary effort to re-establish safe production, rebuild technical capacity and strengthen the mine’s long-term operational readiness.
One of the key positions is the Operational and Restart Manager, a two-year contract role tasked with leading strategic planning, coordination and execution of all restart initiatives.
The incumbent will oversee engineering, safety, community engagement, and financial oversight, with specific experience in underground hard-rock mining required.
Applicants must hold blasting certification and demonstrate expertise in ramp-ups, plant commissioning and turnaround operations.
On the technical side, Kombat is rebuilding its geology and resource-estimation capabilities through several senior appointments.
The mine is hiring a Mineral Resource Manager to take responsibility for resource evaluations, reconciliation studies and oversight of the geological database.
A Senior Geohydrologist and a Geohydrologist are also being recruited to design and manage groundwater monitoring, mine dewatering, hydrogeological testing and basin modelling — functions central to ensuring long-term water control in the Kombat district, where historic operations intersect complex subsurface water systems.
The team will be supported by two frontline geological roles: a Production and Database Geologist, responsible for ensuring accurate geological interpretation for mine planning, and a Project Planner and Scheduler, focused on detailed scheduling for mechanical, civil, and construction-related restart activities.
In finance, the mine is strengthening cost control and metal accounting functions ahead of first concentrate production.
A Financial Accountant and a Project Cost Accountant are being sought to manage concentrated sales, enforce financial controls, and oversee expenditure tracking during the restart phase.
Candidates are expected to have experience in base-metal operations, ERP systems and IFRS reporting.
Supply chain and site logistics — often decisive in early-stage mine restarts — will be overseen by a newly advertised Superintendent: Procurement and Warehousing, responsible for procurement governance and materials management across the operation.
All positions emphasise mine-restart experience, technical competence, and the ability to work under pressure in an environment transitioning from care-and-maintenance to active operations.
Many roles require extensive mining backgrounds, professional registrations, underground experience, or familiarity with modelling software such as MODFLOW, Leapfrog, Studio RM and Primavera.
Applications close on 5 December 2025.
Short-listed candidates will be contacted, and only those meeting the stated minimum qualifications will be considered.
The recruitment round marks the most visible step yet in Kombat’s ongoing revival, as the mine moves to assemble the multi-disciplinary team needed to return one of Namibia’s historic copper producers to sustained output.
