The Warmbad Uranium Project in southern Namibia has been identified as one of the country’s most promising new uranium prospects, with exploration targets ranging from 22.2 million to 32.1 million tonnes grading 100 to 120 parts per million (ppm) U₃O₈.
Pioneer Lithium Limited announced the figures in its September 2025 quarterly report, marking the company’s first JORC (2012) exploration target and a pivotal move in its shift toward uranium exploration within Namibia’s established uranium province.
The target for EPL 8838 was determined after a detailed review and remodelling of historical data completed by Hyland Geological & Mining Consultants, using results from 31.7 kilometres of drilling — including 161 reverse-circulation and 11 diamond holes — out of which Xemplar Energy was the initial carrier.
Pioneer noted that the target remains conceptual, in line with Clause 17 of the JORC Code, but said all mineralised zones remain open in several directions, indicating strong potential for resource expansion.
Upcoming work will include drone-based radiometric and magnetic surveys, the twinning of historical holes to confirm previous results, and step-out drilling to convert parts of the target into an inferred resource.
The company continues to work with local landowners and Namibia’s Ministry of Mines and Energy, with an environmental clearance certificate valid through July 2027, allowing exploration to proceed uninterrupted. Situated in the far south of Namibia, Warmbad lies within a geologic corridor known for uranium-bearing alaskite intrusions, similar in age and composition to those at Rössing and Husab.
Chief Executive Officer Michael Beven called the target “a defining step in confirming Warmbad as an emerging uranium district and a cornerstone asset in Pioneer’s African portfolio.”
He added that the application of modern geophysical and drilling techniques would be critical to unlocking the project’s full potential.
With environmental approvals in place and regulatory support secured, Pioneer Lithium’s immediate focus is advancing Warmbad toward a maiden uranium resource, positioning both the company and Namibia to play a growing role in the global nuclear energy supply chain.
