Bezant Resources has received the notice of preparedness for granting mining license 246 for the Hope & Gorob copper-gold mining project.
The Hope and Gorob project under EPL 5796 is in the Erongo Region.
Bezant Resources has 70% of Hope and Gorob Mining Pty Ltd, which owns EPL 5796.
Bezant also has 80% of Hope Namibia Mineral Exploration Pty Ltd, which owns adjacent licenses, EPL 6605 and EPL 7170.
The granting of the mining license is conditional only on the company completing and submitting a written acceptance, which it is in the process of doing.
The grant will be subject to standard terms and conditions under the Minerals Act.
Bezant Resources chairperson Colin Bird thanked the Ministry of Mines & Energy for their hard work, diligence, and professionalism.
“We look forward to working with the Ministry and its various departments as we prepare to build and commission the Hope & Gorob mine,” Bird said.
In June 2024, the Hope & Gorob environmental clearance certificate for EPL 7170 was renewed for two years until 12 August 2027.
The license was renewed for two years from the previous expiry to 22 October 2025, subject to granting the ECC.
With the certificate granting, Bezant Resources can now continue exploring this crucial extension to the pending Hope & Gorob Mining Licence and EPL 5796 exploration license, for which renewal is also in process.
