Andrada Mining produced about nine tons of tantalum concentrate at the Uis mine during the quarter ending May 31, 2024.
This is a 14% increase from approximately eight tonnes produced during Q4 FY2024.
The company has supplied AfriMet with a five-tonne consignment and has received a 90% provisional payment.
A second consignment has been made and targeted for shipment in Q2 FY2025.
Tin ore processing increased to 237 976 tons in Q1 2025, compared to 217 189 tons in 1Q 2024.
At the same time, tin concentrate production increased from 359 tons in Q1 of 2024 to 364 tonnes this quarter.
The year-on-year increase in contained tin production climbed from 216 tons in Q1 2024 to 223 tons, while plant availability increased to 93% from 91% in Q1 2024.
Andrada Mining says there has been limited commercial lithium production during the quarter because the facility has been primarily utilised for bulk sampling campaigns.
However, Andrada Mining says commercial petalite production for off-take agreements will be undertaken through the extension circuit that will be added to the current plant following the completion of the pre-concentration circuit.
Andrada Mining CEO Viljoen said exposing planned ore zones has reduced our stripping ratio at Uis to 1.5:1 at the end of May 2024.
Viljoen said they are ideally positioned to capitalise on the tin price rally that began in April 2024, coinciding favourably with the expansion of tin concentrate and contained tin production.
“We successfully produced and delivered our first five-tonne consignment of tantalum to AfriMet during the quarter, with the second consignment produced and targeted for shipment in the second quarter.
“This is an important milestone for the company, placing us firmly on the path to becoming a multi-mineral producer of critical metals. We look forward to a continuation of this supply agreement,” Viljoen said.
