Cazaly Resources has postponed plans to start drilling at the Kaoko Lithium Project pending its environmental clearance certificate renewal.
The Kaoko lithium project in the Kunene region comprises EPL 6667, initially granted in February 2018 and subsequently renewed until February 2025.
The total project area is ~100km long and covers 1,410 square kilometres.
The project borders Celsius Resources Limited’s Opuwo cobalt project, where significant cobalt-copper mineralisation has been discovered in the Dolomite Ore Formation.
The mines ministry renewed the Kaoko Lithium Project’s two-year exploration licence during the December 2023 quarter.
Cazaly Resources has identified a large lithium in soil anomaly at the Ohevanga Prospect, which measures 12km x 10km.
The anomaly was defined using broadly spaced surface samples collected across a 1km grid, followed by infill surface sampling to determine, explain, and confirm the target.
The company then formulated a drilling program to test the large lithium anomaly at Ohevanga and set the start of the drilling campaign for late in the first or early in the second quarter of 2024.
Cazaly Resources stated in its quarterly activities report on Tuesday that drilling will now be scheduled, as due process is required for all approvals to be in place.
To progress towards drilling the large lithium target at Ohevanga, Cazaly Resources said, it completed and submitted the environmental surveys required for planned drilling activities.
The company also said it submitted the required Environmental Compliance Monitoring and Audit Report and the updated Environmental Management Plan, which was submitted in mid-December 2023 to renew the Environmental Clearance Certificate.
