Rhino Resources has awarded Halliburton Company a deep-water integrated multi-well construction contract on Block 2914A under PEL 85 in the Orange Basin.

In late 2022, Rhino Resources conducted a 3D seismic survey reinforcing the block’s potential with multiple viable plays and drillable prospects.

Halliburton will provide complete solutions to construct exploration and appraisal wells and testing services.

Additionally, Halliburton will extend its country operation facilities to support all product service lines from Namibia, enhance collaboration, and maximise asset value for Rhino Resources and Namibian customers.

Halliburton and Rhino Resources say they emphasise localisation in Namibia’s oil and gas sector, aiming to highlight the economic advantages of Namibia’s resources to the local community.

The agreement becomes operational in the fourth quarter of 2024.

The parties say the agreement underscores the importance of integrating global expertise with local resources to foster economic resilience and progress in Namibia’s growing energy sector.

Halliburton senior vice president of Europe, Eurasia, and Sub-Saharan Africa Jean-Marc Lopez says this collaboration between Halliburton and Rhino Resources marks a strategic milestone for harnessing Namibia’s full potential in its oil and gas sector.

“With its collaborative approach and solutions engineering, Halliburton is uniquely positioned to maximise asset value in this block with Rhino Resources,” he says.

Rhino Resources CEO Travis Smithard says they are pleased to have established a collaboration with Halliburton and view this as an important driver in the continued growth of the Namibian oil and gas industry.

“The opportunity for catalysing local services and the broadening of positive economic influence in Namibia are expected to establish a valuable legacy for the Namibian people well beyond our initial exploration campaign,” Smithard says.

Rhino is a privately owned exploration company operating in Namibia, South Africa, and Senegal.

In South Africa, Rhino is exploring onshore for biogenic gas, helium, and hydrogen, while in Senegal, through its subsidiary AGC, the company has two offshore exploration licences, Blocks Ultra Profond 3 and 4.

Halliburton is one of the world’s leading providers of products and services to the energy industry.

Founded in 1919, we create innovative technologies, products, and services that help our customers maximise their value throughout an asset’s life cycle and advance a sustainable energy future.
