The Namibia Local Content Conference, organised by Antila Consultancy, will take place at Luderitz from April 16 to 18.

This is Namibia’s first-ever local content conference after the news of massive oil discoveries in the Orange Basin.

Namibia has a Draft Upstream Exploration Local Content compiled in 2023.

The conference seeks to transform and support the growth of sustainable industries within the local business sector, particularly in Namibia’s oil and gas industry.

Its primary objective is to establish a platform for multi-stakeholder engagement in line with the Ministry of Mines’ National Upstream Local Content Policy (LCP) draft.

Additionally, it seeks to provide practical tools for sustainable business solutions, economic development, corporate social investment, innovation, entrepreneurship, and local capacity development.

The conference will bring together relevant industry stakeholders, both local and international, to highlight the unique opportunities presented by recent hydrocarbon discoveries offshore Namibia.

It will educate Namibian businesses on aligning themselves with regulations and policies, offering them a privileged position to participate actively in procuring the oil and gas sector.

Antila Consultancy is an indigenous Namibian company led by individuals and an advisory board with extensive industry expertise. Its primary objective is to organise a conference that equips Namibians with practical skills and insights to understand the oil and gas industry better.

The advisory board comprises individuals who previously worked for various institutions and international organisations during Namibia’s oil and gas exploration period.

They identified local participation limitations due to Namibians needing more practical tools and knowledge to engage effectively.

Maria Mbudhi, who founded Antila Consultancy, has had many firsts apart from the local content conference. She was the first woman to form part of the National Petroleum Operator’s Association executive committee.

Mbudhi was recently appointed the Nampoa public affairs chairperson.

Since 2012, Mbudhi has worked for different international oil companies and is currently the Rhino Resources’ deputy country manager. Rhino Resources operates offshore licence 2815.

She founded Alpha Petroleum Ltd. and is involved in various marketing activities for the oil and gas industry.

Mbudhi has developed successful business strategies, marketing, and company positioning for her clients and industry stakeholders, including the Ministry of Mines and Energy, Namcor, British Business Group, and Petrofund.
