Chevron, RMB, and Shell are the Saphire sponsors for the 6th Namibia International Energy Conference, which will be held from 23 to 25 April 2024.
The conference, which takes place at Droombos Estate, just outside Windhoek, is themed Reimagine Resource-Rich Namibia: Turning Possibilities into Prosperity.
RichAfrica Consultancy organises the event, which has become a
premier platform for government officials, private sector representatives, investors, and thought leaders worldwide to explore and unlock Namibia’s rich energy sector potential.
Featuring leading international and local subject matter experts, this thought leadership initiative has been successfully hosted in 2012, 2014, 2019, 2022 and 2023 and has attracted more than 2000 delegates since inception.
With Namibia positioned as a burgeoning hub for energy in Africa, the conference will highlight the latest advancements, strategies for sustainable energy exploitation, and the role of innovative technologies in transforming the sector.
Chevron, Shell, and RMB’s support facilitates the conference’s mission and exemplifies the power of partnership in achieving long-term sectoral goals.
Shell, a leading industry player, has been at the forefront of exploration efforts in the Orange Basin.
Their groundbreaking discoveries in 2022 and the subsequent four discoveries over the past two years illuminate the path for Namibia and the broader African continent’s energy landscape.
The sponsorship is instrumental in providing a platform for critical discussions that will shape Namibia’s future energy supply and contribute to the global dialogue on sustainable energy practices.
The collaboration underscores the pivotal role of sponsorship in steering the conversations and innovations that will chart the future course of Namibia’s energy sector.
Additionally, the collaboration with these industry giants is not just about financial sponsorship but a testament to their belief in the NIEC as a catalyst for transformative energy sector advancements.
The founder of RichAfrica Consultancy and the conference convenor, Selma Shimutwikeni, thanked Chevron, Shell and RMB for their steadfast support and commitment.
Shimutwikeni said Chevron, Shell and RMB’s unwavering support is highly appreciated.
“Chevron’s partnership since 2023, Shell’s enduring sponsorship since 2014, and RMB’s remarkable three-year commitment highlight our sector’s collaborative spirit driving progress.
“RMB’s role is especially significant as it heralds the first financial institution to extend such substantial support to our conference,” Shimutwikeni said.
RMB Namibia Sector Head: Oil & Gas, Energy and Resources Angelique Peake said the conference and RMB’s engagement play a critical role.
“Our investment in the NIEC underscores RMB Namibia’s dedication to fostering a sustainable future for Namibia.
“The conference offers an unparalleled opportunity for engaging with key stakeholders in the Oil & Gas sector, paving the way for Namibia’s energy future. RMB’s commitment is aimed at nurturing proactive collaborations between international and local industry frontrunners,” Peake said.
This theme captures the collective aspiration to leverage Namibia’s abundant natural resources for sustainable development, transitioning from potential to prosperity.
Recent statistics underscore the significance of this gathering, reflecting the dynamic shifts and opportunities within Namibia’s energy sector.
