Bezant Resources submitted a Social and Environmental Impact Assessment (ESIA) to interested and affected parties for comments in anticipation of the near-term issue of a mining licence for the Hope and Gorob Copper-Gold Project.
The Hope and Gorob project under EPL 5796 is in the Erongo Region.
Bezant Resources has 70% of Hope and Gorob Mining Pty Ltd, which owns EPL 5796.
Bezant also has 80% of the Hope Namibia Mineral Exploration Pty Ltd, which owns adjacent licences, EPL 6605 and EPL 7170.
The company said Friday that it had completed a significant amount of supplementary work to aid in optimising the process flowsheet, final mine design and eventual commencement of the operation.
In October 2023, Addison Mining Services released an updated JORC 2012 compliant mineral resource estimate (MRE) of 15 million tonnes at 1.2% copper with a projected average grade of 0.4 grams of gold per tonne.
The estimate encompasses the Hope, Gorob Vendome, and Anomaly deposits, with Hope alone holding three million tonnes at 1.7% copper and 0.4 grams of gold per tonne.
AMS estimated 2.4 million tonnes of ore potentially suitable for an initial, cost-effective, open pit mine.
Bezant Resources chairperson Colin Bird said the company has continued to advance the project pending the anticipated award of the mining licence.
“Our time has been well-spent confirming the suitability of Hope & Gorob ore to dry sorting technologies and optimising various aspects of the future operation. In the interim, we will continue with essential work largely linked to project development and keep shareholders informed of progress,” Bird said.
