Copper explorer Noronex reports drilling successes at the Humpback project in the Omaheke region of Namibia, where several new targets were defined.
Noronex acquired the Humpback and Damara EPLs 8655, 8656, 8664, 8671, and 8672, measuring 1,650 km2, in March 2023.
The Humpback Project comprises the Fiesta and Blowhole prospects.
The company started drilling 17 holes, completing 4,900m of reverse circulation on the Humpback projects from July until October 2023.
Noronex chief geologist Bruce Hooper said the Fiesta deposit continues to deliver positive copper intercepts at significant step-outs on the main horizon, which is very encouraging for the potential size of the Fiesta copper system and the surrounding region under shallow cover.
Hooper added that the whole 100% owned Humpback project, supported by the drilling at Fiesta and Blowhole, provides numerous favourable structural settings for large deposits that have never been previously drilled.
Private equity firm Cupric Canyon’s drilling program at the Humpback Project’s Fiesta Prospect in 2014 reported up to 8m @ 2.5%.
The Fiesta deposit has many hallmarks of the deposits defined in Botswana over 400km to the east, including Zone 5 (167 Mt @ 2.1% Cu).
Cupric Canyon had 88.1% of Cuprous Capital, which owns the Khoemacau Copper Mine in Botswana, until November 2023, when MMG acquired the company.
Noronex also had the Dordabis-Witvlei (DorWit) Project, covering 80,000ha. The Witvlei is under EPLs 7028 and 7029 and Dordabis 7030.
In October 2023, Noronex JV Vehicle, Aloe Investments 237, sold the Dordabis Copper Prospect for US$800,000 to Umino Pty Ltd.
The sale of Dordabis reduced the total resource from 10 mt at 1.26% Cu to 8.8 mt at 1.28% Cu (@0.5% cut-off) for 112,500 t of copper.
