Wia Gold is targeting June 2025 to complete the Kokoseb project scoping study to upgrade and increase the mineral resource estimate.
The Kokoseb Gold Project lies within the Okombahe exploration licence, which is held under a joint venture by Wia (80%) and the Namibian state-owed mining company Epangelo.
The Okombahe licence is part of Wia’s broader Damaran Belt tenure in Namibia, which consists of 12 tenements across a total area of over 2,700 km2.
Consultants from Namibia, South Africa and Australia are working across all major preliminary components of the study, which is targeted for completion in Quarter 3 of 2025.
Mine Geotech consultants visited the site and compiled geotechnical data for preliminary geotechnical analysis.
With re-logging, there is an opportunity to re-use approximately 1,000m of core from existing drilling in the initial geotechnical assessment.
The data from drilling since January 2025, along with proposed drilling in the current program, will provide sufficient data for use in planning the phase 1 geotechnical drilling program design.
The mining consultant’s scope of work was awarded and executed, including the commencement of open pit designs, waste dump locations, and other preliminary works.
The site satellite survey was finalised, and the digital terrain model, which incorporated a site survey of several ground control points, was delivered.
A high-level layout of surface infrastructure has been prepared.
The consultants for plant and non-processing infrastructure and comminution scope of work awarded and executed.
Wia Gold appointed consultants for the comminution design, process and non-process infrastructure aspects of the scoping study, including plant footprint for use in the layout of surface infrastructure.
The company awarded the hydrology and associated geophysics scope of work contract and received a desktop scoping report on water availability assessment. An application for water supply from NamWater, the state-owned water utility, was submitted to formalise the process.
Data is being gathered to support the assumptions required to develop tailings storage options (filtered and conventional slurry tailings) for the multi-criteria analysis of possibilities.
Limited tailings testing is being scoped to help inform the Scoping Study and subsequent phases.
