Standard Bank Namibia and Rich Africa Consultancy have signed a three-year partnership to support Namibia’s energy sector development.
Rich Africa Consultancy runs the Namibia International Energy Conference.
Standard Bank becomes a Sapphire Sponsor committed to developing the energy sector through finance, innovation and inclusive growth.
Now in its 7th year, this year’s conference is set for 23-25 April 2025 at the Windhoek Country Club Resort runs under the theme “Leading the Way: Becoming an Energy Hub with In-Country Value.”
The conference will focus on Namibia’s upstream oil and gas developments, renewable energy potential, infrastructure investments, and the evolving policy landscape shaping energy and extractives investment.
Standard Bank Namibia aims to pursue opportunities in Africa’s energy and infrastructure development beyond 2025.
The bank will use its expertise in the infrastructure and energy sectors and large balance sheet to support clients among other advantages.
Standard Bank Namibia’s head of corporate and investment banking, Nelson Lucas, says the bank is privileged to be afforded the opportunity to establish a partnership with the Namibia International Energy Conference as a collective champions of the Energy industry.
Lucas also says they hold the energy conference platform in high regard for bringing together industry leaders and experts from across the globe to have industry-defining conversations and cross-border networking to secure Namibia’s spot as one of the energy leaders in Africa and internationally.
He says Standard Bank Namibia is proud to be one of the biggest energy banks in Namibia, with a footprint across Africa and years of experience and expertise.
“As an industry leader, we aim to support the local industry players across the value chain and usher them into this sector to lay the foundation for the growth of the Namibian economy and Africa. We anticipate this year’s conference and the valuable insights that will emerge,” Lucas says.
Rich Africa Consultancy founder and CEO Ndapwilapo Selma Shimutwikeni says the partnership is a testament to Namibia’s growing role in Africa’s energy future.
Shimutwikeni says Standard Bank’s sponsorship elevates the conference platform’s ability to connect capital with opportunity, ensuring tangible outcomes for the sector and contributing meaningfully to advancing Namibia’s energy sector.
