Uis lithium project becomes polymetallic with discovery of tin, tantalum and rubidium

Askari Metals has identified high grades of tin, tantalum and rubidium from a review of historical exploration at the Uis lithium project under EPL 8535 in the Erongo region.
The Uis project is about 14 km from Andrada Mining’s Uis Tin Mine.
Andrada Mining also reported intersecting high grades of tin, tantalum and lithium on April 10, 2025, after conducting a drill programme to validate the historical data and investigate the pegmatites by-product potential within the Uis Tin Mine.
Askari Metals says one sample from 492 rock chip samples assayed 3.2% SnO2, and 14 samples produced results greater than 1,875ppm Sn (0.24% SnO2).
The review involved a geological database from 492 rock chip samples conducted over exposed pegmatites, including several old artisanal workings mined for tin or semi-precious stones.
Tantalum results were also highly positive, with 70 samples returning results greater than 100ppm Ta2O5 and two samples with results greater than 1,000ppm Ta. There were also indications of very strong rubidium mineralisation with results up to 0.87% Rb2O.
The highest tin grade returned from EPL 8535 to date is 3.17% SnO₂, with the best assays, including 14 samples displaying assays greater than 0.24% SnO₂ shows several further anomalous assays, highlighting the potential for tin mineralization across the licence and supporting a follow-up program to define high-priority trenching targets.
The maximum rubidium result from the rock sampling campaigns was 0.87% Rb2O, with 28 samples returning results greater than 0.2% Rb2O.
This indicates excellent rubidium prospectivity, adding potential economic extraction value to the significantly positive tin and tantalum results.
Askari Metals managing director Gino D’Anna says despite sharing the same geology as the nearby Uis Tin Mine, this is the first time the company has evaluated the potential of the Uis Project to host significant tin and tantalum mineralisation.
The Uis Project is truly a polymetallic project offering significant economic upside.
“In an environment where the tin price is currently trading at US$31,275 per ton, the opportunity for Askari to follow up on previous exploration focused on developing the tin potential of the Uis Project is too hard to ignore.
“The Uis Project represents a heavily underexplored opportunity and includes spectacular historical exploration results, identifying high-grade tin and tantalum mineralisation.
“These results demonstrate the significant exploration potential of the project area. Our initial exploration efforts have identified further high-grade tin and tantalum mineralisation at the surface and in drill holes extending the zone of known mineralisation on EPL 8535,” D’Anna says.
