Andrada Mining has doubled its local procurement expenditure to £21 million and maintained a 99% Namibian workforce.
The company released its Sustainability Report for the financial year ended 29 February 2024.
The report outlines Andrada’s sustainability framework and its focus on creating thriving, resilient communities while ensuring responsible operations through best-practice environmental stewardship and robust governance.
According to the report, Andrada Mining spent £21 million with Namibian suppliers, representing 95% of total procurement expenditure.
There were 438 local suppliers, 53 from Uis and 171 from Erongo.
Additionally, £3.5 million was spent in Namibia towards salaries, royalties and social projects during the year under review.
The company also had a total workforce of 471, comprising 240 employees and 231 contractors.
The report says 21% of the workforce is female, with 25% others in senior leadership roles.
Andrada Mining had a 7% year-on-year improvement in energy efficiency to 0.13 GJ per tonne of ore processed, and the water withdrawal improved by 5% to 0.21m³ per ton of ore processed.
There were zero fatalities throughout operations, while the total recordable injury frequency rate was reduced by 16% to 6.79.

Andrada Mining CEO Anthony Viljoen said these results validate the company’s strategy of embedding sustainable practices into all its operations whilst delivering operational excellence.
Viljoen said establishing the foundations for sustainable practice now, including conducting thorough analysis initiatives, is imperative to align Andrada Mining’s growth trajectory with its ESG objectives.
