Namcor’s executive for upstream exploration, Victoria Sibeya and Linda Shitumbapo-Hendricks, Head of Renewable Energy, Pupkewitz Megatech, are among Africa’s 50 most inspirational female energy executives.

The two were named during the Africa Oil Week in Cape Town from 9 to 13 October 2023.

Sibeya’s role entails leading the Upstream Exploration team to grow NAMCOR’s hydrocarbon exploration portfolio by developing business opportunities aligned with the company strategy.

She is a geologist and holds a Master’s degree in geology from the University of Namibia with research titled Petroleum System Analysis and Seismic Study of the Orange Basin.

Sibeya serves as a secretary at the American Association of Petroleum Geologists for Africa Region.

She is also a member of the Board of Trustees for Petrofund and a chairperson of the mining and quarrying, construction, electricity, gas, water supply and sanitation industry skills committee, Namibia Training Authority.

She also previously served as a vice president of the Geological Council of Namibia.

Before joining Namcor, Sibeya worked for the mines ministry as a Geoscientist in the mining department.

Shitumbapo-Hendricks is a renewable energy engineer with an MSc in Electrical Engineering for Renewable and Sustainable Energy from the University of Nottingham and industrial experience in the Power Generation, transmission and distribution industry.

She previously worked on project management of Solar PV projects, a Demand Side Management Project, and a Wind Resource Measurement Project.

The industrial experience, coupled with my Master’s degree, has enhanced her skills and confidence to design, size, simulate and analyse the performance of single and/or hybrid Renewable Energy systems such as Solar PV, Solar Thermal, Wind, and Energy Storage.

Her other interests are in rural off-grid Renewable Energy Solutions, Utility-Scale Solar PV with Energy Storage projects, and Energy management.
