Trigon Metals CEO Jed Richardson says the dewatering programme at Kombat copper mine has progressed well in the past weeks.
Richardson says the water level has been lowered 238m, past the 7th level and beyond the company’s sixth-level goal necessary to start underground mining.
According to Richardson, Trigon remains on track to initiate underground mining beginning in Q2 this year.
“As we prepare for this stage, Trigon Metals anticipates increased operational efficiency and enhanced resource extraction following the promising drill results that have showcased the substantial mineralisation within the targeted zones,” he says.
In a statement Tuesday, Triagon said the drilling results from the shallow areas of Asis West Shaft close to the historic Omega Shaft from a century ago yielded high-grade zones of copper mineralisation to be accessed from underground.
Meanwhile, Trigon’s vice president of exploration, Andy Rompel, said the findings further demonstrate the high-grade copper and silver potential within the company’s licences and solidify confidence in the exploration and development potential of the Kombat project.
