88 Energy is moving to sharpen drilling targets on Petroleum Exploration Licence 93 (PEL 93) in Namibia’s onshore Owambo Basin by launching a high-resolution airborne geophysical survey in the first quarter of 2026, as exploration momentum builds across the Damara Fold Belt.
88 Energy Limited, which holds a 20% working interest in the PEL 93 joint venture, said the survey will acquire detailed magnetic and gravity data to map basin architecture and key structures, with results to be integrated with existing seismic datasets to mature drill-ready prospects.
PEL 93 lies along the same Damara Fold Belt play fairway as ReconAfrica’s PEL 73, where the recent Kavango West 1X well confirmed 64 metres of net hydrocarbon pay in Otavi carbonates and is scheduled for production testing in early 2026.
Those results have strengthened confidence that the play extends westward into PEL 93.
The licence already hosts several large structural closures defined by 203 kilometres of 2D seismic, including Lead 9, interpreted to cover about 100 square kilometres.
The upcoming airborne survey, to be conducted by Monitor Exploration, is intended to refine these leads further, define prospective resources, and support farm-in discussions ahead of future drilling.
With the licence extended to October 2026, the joint venture is positioning PEL 93 for the next phase of exploration as activity in the Damara Fold Belt continues to deliver encouraging technical results.
