President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has relieved Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry, Mines and Energy, Natangwe Ithete, of his duties with immediate effect.

According to a statement from the State House, the decision was made under Article 32(6) of the Namibian Constitution, which empowers the President to appoint and dismiss ministers.

The move comes as part of efforts to ensure continuity and effective coordination in one of the country’s most strategic portfolios.

Nandi-Ndaitwah will temporarily take direct charge of the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Energy.

The Presidency said this interim arrangement will help maintain policy stability and drive the implementation of key national priorities in the mining, energy, and industrialisation sectors.

The President thanked Ithete for his service to government and the people of Namibia, noting that he will continue to serve as a Member of Parliament.

In reaffirming her administration’s commitment to accountability and sound governance, Nandi-Ndaitwah said the government remains focused on sustainable and inclusive development aligned with Namibia’s long-term national vision.
