Petroleum commissioner Maggy Shino told delegates at the Mining Expo and Conference in Windhoek on Thursday that Rhino Resources and partners are planning to drill in November 2024.
Azule Energy and Rhino Resources Namibia executed a farm-in agreement regarding Block 2914A in the Orange Basin in May 2024.
Azule Energy signed up for a 42.5% interest, Namcor has 10%, and Korres Investments (Pty) Ltd has 5%.
Shino said the latest Rhino-Searcher seismic survey and other datasets identified key targets such as Sagittarius and Volans.
She said the follow-targets could include Capricornus/Carina, Vela/Alpha Centauri and Mars/Rooikat.
“Rhino advocates for a diverse spectrum of service providers operating in Namibia and believes that a healthy oil and gas industry is driven by fair-market competition,” Shino added.
