Mines minister Tom Alweendo has been nominated for the Africa Legend Award at the Africa Energies Summit.

The Africa Energies Summit brings together Africa’s energy industry for a unique event shaped for companies active across the Continent and provides unrivalled insight into the world’s fast-changing energy landscape.

The 2024 conference takes place in London, United Kingdom, from May 14 to 16, 2024.

Namcor’s executive for Upstream Exploration, Victoria Sibeya, received the call for the Distinguished Individual Contribution to the African Energy Industry award.

Namcor is running for the African National Oil Company or Regulator of the Year award.

Several international oil companies operating in Namibia have also been nominated for awards.

QatarEnergy, TotalEnergies, Galp, and Eni are all for the Distinguished Corporate Contribution to the African Energy Industry.

All these companies have interests in the Orange Basin, with Eni coming onto the scene via Azure Energy, a 50/50 joint venture with bp.

Other companies are BW Energies, which is developing the Kudu Gas project, and Impact Oil & Gas.

The petroleum commissioner Maggy Shino and the suspended Namcor managing director Immanuel Mulunga are past awards winners.
