Yet another mining company, Hertz Energy, has landed in Namibia searching for uranium within the Erongo region.
Hertz Energy is a British Columbia-based mineral exploration company primarily acquiring and exploring mineral properties.
The company currently has one material mineral property, the Lucky Mica Project, in the Arizona Pegmatite Belt in Maricopa County, Arizona, USA, which is in the exploration stage.
Hertz Energy has applied EPLs 10185 and 10186, covering 9,630 hectares.
EPL 10185 is 22 km east of the coastal town of Swakopmund, while EPL 10186 is 40 km northeast of Swakopmund.
The company says preliminary interpretation of regional airborne radiometric data from the Namibian Ministry of Mines and Energy indicates radiometric anomalies coinciding with favourable geology for primary alaskite-hosted uranium mineralisation.
Hertz Energy says Odikwa Geoservices, led by Mary Barton, filed the applications.
Barton is a professional natural scientist and a Qualified Person for the purposes of National Instrument 43-101 (NI 43-101).
Odikwa Geoservices also conducted a geological desktop review to locate prospective ground within the region of Erongo for the licensing application.
Hertz Energy CEO Kal Malhi said the company is devoted to increasing its footprint in the green energy metals markets and is excited to enter Namibia this year.
He added that Namibia has a long history of uranium exploration and production.
“Mary Barton and her team at Odikwa Geoservices have been instrumental in setting up our operations in the country.
“We are fortunate to have access to an expert local geological consultant company and look forward to developing and executing our exploration initiatives in the coming months once we receive government approvals,” Malhi said.
