Aldoro Resources’ geological mapping at the Kameelburg Rare Earth Element Project in Namibia has detected huanghoite, an exotic chemical element mineral commonly found at Bayan Obo in China.
The Kameelburg Project, about 60 km southwest of Otjiwarongo in the Otjozondjupa region, is under EPLs 7372, 7373 and 7895.
Aldoro Resources acquired 85% of the project from Logan Exploration Investments in early 2023.
The geological mapping also unearthed other rare earth minerals, such as bastnasite and an unidentified cerium-bearing barium sulfate.
Aldoro Resources says the scanning electron microprobe (SEM) mineralogical interpretation of the seven metallurgical samples identified key niobium and Rare Earth Elements (REE) bearing minerals such as monazite, ancylite, and ferrocolumbite.
The current campaign for geological mapping and rock chip sampling is being used to strongly assist in targeting drill collars for the upcoming maiden 2,000m nomination quill diamond drilling programme targeting Niobium and REE.
Aldoro Resources wants to use the results from this study to better discriminate the processes required to liberate the REE and niobium minerals from the carbonatite ore.
The Company has engaged the services of the highly regarded mineralogist Dr Roger Townsend from Diamantina Laboratories. He conducted an SEM/EDS study of the REE and niobium minerals using representative splits from the seven samples.
The samples were meticulously screened at 2mm, with the -2mm product carefully mounted and polished on 6×2.5cm slides. They were then examined using the CSIRO SEM at Waterford, ensuring the highest level of scientific rigour in our exploration process.
Aldoro Resources Ltd is an ASX-listed mineral exploration and development company with a portfolio of critical minerals, including rare earth, lithium, rubidium and base metal projects.
The Kameelburg has a history dating back to the 1960s when Amcor conducted exploration from 1967 to 1970 using the National Institute of Metallurgy (NIM) to commission investigations into surface rock sampling.
Between 2012 and 2013, Kinlock Resources came in and undertook two phases of sampling: a due diligence rock chip sampling program and a grid-based rock and soil sampling program.
