Namibia will launch the online licence application portal on April 4, 2024.
The portal, set to go live on April 5, 2024, will bring convenience and efficiency to the application process.
Registration on the portal starts on March 15, 2024.
The mines ministry assures it will transition to online submissions when the application period opens, streamlining the process for all applicants.
The ministry reiterates that it will no longer accept manual applications, emphasising the need for all interested parties to adapt to the new online system.
“This transition marks a significant step towards modernisation and aligns with the ministry’s commitment to embracing digital transformation,” says a statement issued by the ministry’s chief public relations officer, Eshioshange Ten Hasheela.
The statement underscores that for members of the public interested in applying for mineral rights through the Department of Mines, diamond licences via the Department of Diamond Affairs, and petroleum upstream licences administered by the Department of Petroleum Affairs, it is crucial to register for the online application submission.
