Ongwe Minerals has intersected multiple high-grade gold zones at its Belmont Prospect near Khorixas, including 3 metres grading 9.21 grams per tonne (g/t) gold, and has outlined another 3,500 metres of drilling across the prospect.
The results come from the BK2 target within the Khorixas Gold Project, where two reverse-circulation holes returned several mineralised intervals.
Hole BKR010 returned 3m at 9.21 g/t gold from 17m, 5m at 0.90 g/t from 39m, and another 3m at 6.45 g/t from 70m.
BKR019 returned 1m at 4.70 g/t gold from 53m, 5m at 1.11 g/t from 63m and 7m at 3.23 g/t from 78m.
Ongwe announced the results on Thursday following a drilling programme across three targets at Belmont.
The company drilled 20 reverse-circulation holes totalling 1,979m across BK2, BK7 and BK13, although only BKR010 and BKR019 intersected what it described as significant gold mineralisation.
The holes were drilled at a 60-degree inclination and averaged about 100m in inclined depth. Ongwe said the results, together with limited earlier diamond drilling at Belmont, indicate that the gold systems are structurally controlled.
Ongwe chief executive Dave Underwood said the latest drilling had confirmed high-grade gold associated with complex folding and a late-stage influx of sulphides, including pyrrhotite, pyrite and arsenopyrite.
He said the initial intersections at BK2 were narrow, but described the grades as encouraging.
The company plans to use diamond drilling during the next phase of exploration to improve its understanding of the structural and lithological controls on the mineralisation.
Ongwe said mineralisation in BKR010 occurred in several quartz-sulphide zones concentrated along contacts between arkosic sandstone and schist.
BKR019 was drilled to test continuity between earlier drilling to the north and BKR010 to the south. The company said the hole confirmed that the mineralisation strikes north-northwest and is controlled, at least partly, by bedding and likely folding.
Belmont covers about 12km by 6km and contains 19 individual gold anomalies identified through soil, calcrete, rock-chip, and bedrock sampling.
Up to 15m of calcrete covers much of the prospect, making it harder to identify and trace mineralisation from the surface.
Ongwe has finalised a further exploration programme for Belmont for the remainder of 2026 comprising 2,000m of reverse-circulation drilling and 1,500m of diamond drilling.
The 3,500m programme will target BK1, BK2, BK8 and Plains.
At BK2, drilling will test northern and southern extensions of the mineralisation as well as possible parallel zones, while BK8 will receive its initial drilling.
BK8 has a surface gold anomaly extending about 1.5km, with soil samples reaching 1.49 g/t gold.
Ongwe will also conduct initial drilling at Plains, where previous work identified a roughly 2km-long bedrock gold anomaly.
Ongwe is separately moving ahead with exploration at its K17 copper-gold prospect within the Khorixas project, where geochemical analysis has outlined a broad 8km by 7km mineralised footprint.
The company plans to conduct an audio-magnetotelluric and ground-gravity survey during October and November to investigate deeper sources of anomalies identified in regional data.
That work is expected to be followed by a detailed induced-polarisation programme during the first quarter of 2027 to identify potential blind disseminated sulphide zones.
Underwood said the two phases of geophysical work are intended to produce copper-gold targets for drilling during the second quarter of 2027.
