Lepidico Limited says it has spent N$25m (A$2 110 548) procuring goods and services from Namibian companies and another N$3m (A$260 420) on community investment.
The Karibib Lithium project, comprising the Helikon and Rubikon mines, has Africa’s 7th biggest lithium reserve at 773,000 tons.
The company developing the Karibib Lithium project in the Erongo region also says they now have all permits, licencing, environmental and social impact assessments, and associated management plans.
According to the company’s Sustainability Performance Data Sheet for the Year Ended 30 June 2023, Lepidico constructed an emergency maternity unit at the Otjimbingwe settlement.
“We provided re-usable pads for girls who do not have access to sanitary products and often miss school. This support will go a long way in ensuring their uninterrupted school attendance,” Lepidico says.
Lepidico says they have established the Board Sustainability and Risk Committee to strengthen corporate governance.
“To this end, the Speeki application was rolled out across our business and staff were re-trained in our Corporate Code of Conduct, Anti-Bribery and Corruption Policy and the Whistle-blower Protection Policy,” the company says.
