Wia Gold has announced a major new resource upgrade at its Kokoseb Gold Project, reporting a Mineral Resource Estimate (MRE) of 2.93 million ounces of gold at 1.0 g/t (at a 0.5 g/t cut-off) as of July 2025.
The updated figure includes 1.81 million ounces in the indicated category and 1.1 million ounces in inferred resources, marking significant progress for one of Namibia’s most important emerging gold discoveries.
The July 2025 MRE is based on 89 million tonnes at 1.0 g/t gold.
The resource has grown steadily over the past three years: as of April 2024, it stood at 2.12 million ounces (inferred) from 66 million tonnes at 1.0 g/t, whereas in May 2023, it was 1.3 million ounces (inferred) from 41 million tonnes at the same grade.
Kokoseb’s resource scale now puts it among Namibia’s largest known gold deposits.
For context, B2Gold’s Otjikoto Mine holds 1.4 million ounces at 1.5 g/t (at a 0.4 g/t cut-off, within a US$1,350/oz pit shell). QKR’s Navachab Mine hosts 3.9 million ounces (as at December 2013).
Osino’s Twin Hills Project (now with Shanjin/Shandong) has 3.1 million ounces at 1.1 g/t (at a 0.3 g/t cut-off). Kokoseb’s 2.93 Moz resource at 1.0 g/t firmly places it in this league of large-scale Namibian gold projects.
Wia Gold has supported this growth with an intensive exploration program, drilling over 49,500 metres in 2025 alone and more than 120,000 metres since exploration began in Q2 2022.
In 2025, four to five rigs (including four diamond drill rigs and one reverse circulation rig) will be operating continuously on site.
Drilling results confirm that the Kokoseb deposit remains open at depth (surface to 350 m) and along its 4.8 km strike.
Recent discoveries outside the current MRE include a high-grade lode in the northwest zone and a high-grade shoot at depth in the central zone.
An accelerated drilling campaign began in February 2025 to pursue these targets with both diamond and RC rigs.
The company highlights highly consistent grades and widths across the 5.4 km strike of the Kokoseb system, supporting its scale and quality.
Wia Gold notes that 2.93 million ounces of gold have been defined within just three years of exploration drilling, reflecting the project’s strong performance.
In parallel with resource growth, Wia Gold is advancing technical, environmental, and community work to support future development.
Ongoing activities include mine geotechnical assessment, mine planning, metallurgical testing, process plant design, hydrology studies, and tailings storage facility planning.
An Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) and a scoping study are both due in Q3 2025, supporting a formal application for an exploitation permit, which is expected to take approximately 12 months to complete.
The company continues CSR initiatives and impact studies with local communities to ensure development plans are well-integrated and responsible.
Looking ahead, Wia Gold is targeting both a Definitive Feasibility Study and an exploitation license in H2 2026, aiming to confirm Kokoseb’s technical and economic viability as one of Namibia’s most promising new gold projects.
